LIVING IN TOGETHERNESS
“It’s market day. Locals line the streets and stalls, artichokes divided into sizes and quality, honey of all flavours, fresh pasta to buy by the kilo, endless oranges, freshly pressed olive oil, hanging salami, and the panini van selling fresh octopus panini (we are close to the sea).
“A woman stands by a stall, engrossed. Her stroller with her small child in it slowly rolls down the street. Someone stops its roll and waits patiently with the stroller for the mother to first notice the stroller is amiss and secondly to finish the conversation. The child watches as people stream past, ingesting the collective daily motions. It is both deeply traditional and undeniably modern.”
